On Saturday, Aston Villa took the lead after just four minutes thanks to a goal from Ollie Watkins, who scored his 14th Premier League goal of the year after a brilliant play by Leon Bailey on the right wing.

Douglas Luiz gave the Villans the lead as he scored twice in ten minutes. First, he headed John McGinn’s cross after a nice cutback by Jacob Ramsey.

However, Nottingham Forest’s Moussa Niakhaté would strike back shortly before halftime, using his chest to score his team’s first goal. Three minutes into the second half, Morgan Gibbs-White chipped Emi Martínez, raising the possibility of an incredible comeback.

Bailey scored Aston Villa’s fourth goal of the afternoon around the hour mark, having already provided an assist for the first goal. The Jamaican international picked up the pieces after Watkins’ original drive was saved and tapped home into an open goal as the visitors were dispossessed in their own half.

Now five points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Unai Emery’s team will try to extend that lead when they play Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. Nottingham Forest has a challenging week ahead of them as they face Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup and welcome Liverpool to Anfield on Saturday. The team is still four points clear of the relegation zone.
