Real Madrid has not been kind to Ferland Mendy, particularly in the last few years when he has been sidelined by injuries one after the other.

Despite this, manager Carlo Ancelotti, who recently dubbed the 28-year-old Frenchman the “best defensive left-back in the world,” still has faith in the player.

Nevertheless, Mendy’s Real Madrid contract expires in 2025, and as of yet, the former Olympia Lyon star has not received an offer to extend it.

This, along with the Merengues’ pursuit of Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich, has led to conjecture regarding Mendy’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mendy has been explored by Chelsea as a potential

In the midst of all of this, journalist Simon Phillips is alleging that Chelsea has internally considered Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid as a potential January deal.

Due to injury concerns, Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella have not been good for the Blues in the left-back position.

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager, did not think highly of Ian Maatsen, and he was later loaned to Borussia Dortmund.

Due to circumstances beyond Chelsea’s control, Levi Colwill has been forced to play left-back; the team hopes to get past this by acquiring a natural fit for the position, Mendy of Real Madrid is one of the names who has been mentioned as a possible choice.

January departure is improbable

Mendy may be a target for Chelsea, but it is quite improbable that Real Madrid will allow him to leave midway through the season.

Manager Ancelotti has a great deal of faith in the 28-year-old, whose market value is estimated to be €20 million.

Real Madrid would also want to hold onto Mendy until the summer, when they intend to recruit Davies from Bayern, as Fran Garcia has not entirely won them over since his return to the Bernabeu in the summer.
