Chelsea is reportedly increasing its interest in Arsenal’s £30 million goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has been reduced to a backup role since David Raya’s arrival, according to Football Insider. After Robert Sánchez, the Blues’ current first choice, has failed to make an adequate impression after joining from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, it appears that the team views Ramsdale as “a good option.”

Football Insider reports that Ramsdale is “keen to leave,” which is encouraging in and of itself considering that manager Mikel Arteta hasn’t exactly followed through on his purported promise to rotate both Raya and Ramsdale. Ramsdale recently inked a new three-year contract in May, but the fact that no money was indicated for the transfer may make things more difficult.

The 3AM Verdict: While Sánchez hasn’t exactly shown that he can help Chelsea reach their goals, he hasn’t exactly been a disaster either, so we can understand the need to find a new number one. Honestly, there aren’t many better goalkeepers on the market than Ramsdale, who is a superb shot-blocker and all-around good goalie. Of course, everything relies on the cost, but Chelsea has never been stopped by that?
