After rejoining Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United, Jadon Sancho recorded an assist in his interim team’s victory over Darmstadt on Saturday.

Although Sancho had been barred from first-team training at United for the previous few months, so it was unclear if he would be well enough to play for Dortmund this coming weekend, But the out-of-favor Englishman made an impression for Marco Rose’s team off the bench, swiftly blowing away the cobwebs.

After Jamie Bynoe-Gittens was removed in the 55th minute, Sancho swiftly reintegrated into his old squad and started creating opportunities for his teammates.

Sancho has had a turbulent three years since joining Manchester United for a reported £73 million, during which he has only scored twelve goals and registered just six goals.

His prior achievements at Dortmund were more noteworthy, and the early indications point to the possibility that he is already returning to the incredible form that won him a transfer to Manchester.

After Sancho’s loan agreement was verified by his arrival in Germany, a viral video emerged of him hugging Dortmund captain Marco Reus. During the England international’s early years at the club, the two had a cordial rapport.

When Sancho assisted the 34-year-old for his fourth Bundesliga goal of the year during Saturday’s match at Signal Iduna Park, they embraced once more.

To increase the hosts’ lead, he spotted a gap in Darmstadt’s defense and executed an excellent cutback that Reus tapped into a nearly open net.

One of the first people to comment on the goal was Gary Neville, who used the laughing face emoji on X.

Before that, Sancho was a standout player for Dortmund, amassing 50 goals and 63 assists in 136 games as one of the continent’s most promising young players.

When the loan agreement that doesn’t include a buyout option expires at the end of the current campaign, his future at Old Trafford will be determined.
