When Liverpool plays Bournemouth on Sunday, they will be looking to increase their advantage at the top of the Premier League standings. 

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the standings, but victory ver the Cherries could extend their advantage. In the meantime, the Reds have been quoted a huge sum for one of their transfer targets. According to Football Insider, Aston Villa would accept an offer of £100 million for midfielder Douglas Luiz. The report claims that Liverpool have been informed of Villa’s stance on selling the player, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best central midfielders in recent seasons.The Brazilian moved from Manchester City to Villa in 2019, and since then, he has played more than 180 games for the team in all competitions.

During his tenure at Villa Park, Luiz has contributed 20 assists and 19 goals total—seven of which have come this season.

Although he is under contract with Villa until the summer of 2026, the 25-year-old is reportedly of interest to Spanish team Barcelona.In 2022, Arsenal turned down two bids for the midfield player, who never played for City at the senior level. In the end, they signed Declan Rice from West Ham United.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, and other midfielders were replaced during Liverpool’s massive midfield makeover last summer.Despite the additions of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Dominik Szoboszlai to the Anfield team, it seems Klopp is still eager to expand his options.Manager of Villa Unai Emery hassuggested recently that the Midlands club would need to sell players this season in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, but the Spaniard will surely be hesitant to go with a player who has grown to be a vital member of his team.
