For their AFCON semifinal matchup with South Africa, Nigeria can rely on star Victor Osimhen, as the Napoli striker has recovered from his stomach illness.

Fearing he would miss their pivotal semi-final match, the 25-year-old attacker stayed in Abidjan with members of the national team’s medical staff on Monday instead of traveling with his teammates to the Ivorian city of Bouake.

During Nigeria’s 2024 AFCON campaign, Osimhen has participated in nearly every available minute, helping the team advance to the semi-finals with two assists and one goal. When the Super Eagles fell to Algeria in the 2019 semifinals, he was left off the field.

Osimhen has reportedly overcome his stomach ache, according to Sky Sports via TMW. He will now train with his fellow Nigerians in the upcoming hours ahead of their Wednesday night matchup against South Africa.

The 25-year-old striker has made eight goals and three assists in 18 games for his team this season. It is becoming more and more likely that he will depart Napoli in a high-profile transfer in the summer.
