After the conclusion of the AFCON, interest in Nigerian athletes in Europe has grown again.

In their Scottish Premiership matchup against Ross County, Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers netted twice to lead Rangers to win.

Despite being left out of Nigeria’s AFCON team, Dessers has been a goal machine for Rangers since the beginning of the season. Dessers had already scored four goals this season going into their game against Ross County on Wednesday, but he added to his total.

In the fifth minute, Dessers gave Rangers the lead. James Tavernier played him through on goal with a long pass from the defence. The score was then 1-0 as Dessers received the ball in the box, controlled it, and chipped the pursuing goalie.

But in the 29th minute, Simon Murray gave the visitors the equalizer. However, Dessers scored once again shortly before the half ended, giving the Gers the advantage.

Rangers had plenty of opportunities, but they did not seize them. Twenty minutes after Dessers was substituted out of the game, Rangers’ third goal was eventually scored in stoppage time of the second half by John Souttar.

Rangers secured a point draw with the Premiership leaders Celtic by winning the match 3-1.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Echegini, a Super Falcons standout, scored twice for Juventus Women in Italy to lead them to a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Inter Milan.

Since joining Juventus at the beginning of the season, Echegini has performed admirably for the team. Her four goals for Juventus on Wednesday came from a brace she scored in the first half against the Italian powerhouses. In the Serie A women’s league, Juventus’ victory also moved them ahead of Fiorentina.
