Arsenal’s defeat to Fulham on New Year’s Eve made for an extremely unpleasant start to the season.

The Gunners dropped to fourth place in the table and gave up further ground in the Premier League title battle as they fell 2-1 to their London rivals.

As you might guess, there were a lot of tensions at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Leroy Rosenior, speaking on Premier League Productions, brought up one observation he made throughout the match.

After being substituted off, Rosenior observed that Gabriel Martinelli was not at all pleased, even refusing to shake hands with Emile Smith Rowe as he walked to the bench.

Martinelli wasn’t happy

Rosenior observed that the six-million-pound Arsenal player was furious

“I saw a few things, you know how observant I am and this is Martinelli coming off against Fulham. He’s obviously not happy, he shakes hands with Reiss Nelson, but look at Emile Smith Rowe, he puts his hand out to shake his hand and he blanks him, he absolutely blanks him. He’s not happy, not happy at all,” Rosenior said.

Understandable

Although rejecting a handshake from a teammate can come across as petty, we can understand Martinelli’s anger during that Fulham match.

Following Arsenal’s current bad play, everyone connected to the team is beginning to grow impatient.

Martinelli was understandably furious after witnessing his team blow a lead. He had a miserable afternoon against Fulham, scarcely getting a whiff of an opportunity.

In all honesty, it’s a good thing that Martinelli was so irritated because it demonstrates his concern, and in the upcoming weeks, Arsenal will benefit from that kind of intensity.
